Two impending legal tests of our fundamental rights, and a strange legal decision appeared in the news this week.
 
First, the fundamental question asking if the second amendment gives an individual the right to keep and bear arms may finally be decided by the supreme court. Or it may not. The supreme court has a way of not deciding issues while deciding cases.

This increasing financial turmoil is no surprise to followers of the committee's commentary and analysis.

This massive downturn in stocks, the bond crisis, and the plunging of the dollar that we are experiencing has been very predictable.

We started out  the week with the not surprising news that the FAA let Southwest Airlines slide on critical safety inspections, and the FDA observed unsanitary spinach packers, and took no action. Both of these incidents are typical of a corrupted polity.

Bush's veto of another torture ban, (bush veto maintains his criminal torture power, reuters, 3-8-08), he tells us, is to "...ensure our intelligence officials have all the tools they need to stop the terrorists...."
