Chill Out Fools: The Wisdom of OllieThe other day, My girlfriend mentioned to me that people are always spreading news angry or complaining about the foul things in the world, but we rarely (if ever) post solutions to these problems. Well, here are some solutions. 1.Grow your own food. Not only do you get to decide what goes into your food, You also avoid having petroleum burned to transport your foodfrom the farm and or ranch to the store and from the store to your home. I'm not just talking about your organic garden. I'm talking about dairy and meat too. 2. Boycott China. This means you probably won't be able to shop at stores like Wall Mart anymore. You don't need toys painted with lead, toxic pet food or cheap plastic crap that's going to break. The world deffinitely doesn't need their human rights violations or environmental abuse. 3.Stop shopping at stores like Wall Mart. I hope you know that in a two party system your vote is akin to the choice between cyanide and strychnine. Where you spend your money is your real excercise of power. If you spend your money at Wall Mart, you're voting for more Wall Mart. If you spend your money at the local farmer's maket, you're voting for more farmer's market. It's that simple. 4. Go pick up some trash. You know that creek down the way from you? The one you sometimes pass and get pissed off because some ignorant assholes threw a bunch of garbage in it? Go spend a couple of hours cleaning it up. I know it sucks to clean up other people's messes, but you know what sucks worse than that? A bunch of trash in a creek. It doesn't have to be a creek though. Take a walk anywhere and pick up some trash. You'll be suprised at how much good you can do in just a few minutes. Plus it'll make you feel good. I promise. I speak from experience. 5.Make Art. 6.Barter. We need to keep the government out of our buiseness. Every time we use their money we're putiining the government directly in our buisiness. 7.Spread the word. Add your own solutions to it. It's up to all of us to make the world a better place. -Oliver Caesar
