Winter Backpacking
An eastern wind brought a very cold continental cold air mass from the east, bringing the temp down to 2 degrees the evening this picture was shot.
I was testing a new lightweight synthetic sleeping bag. It failed miserably. I was woken by the bitter cold at around 2am shaking like a frk'n leaf.
I balled up as small as possible, and tried to double fold the bag over the reduced size my fetal position created.
Three nights of bitter cold in a thin bag beat the shit out of me. Beware the Eastern Winds during High Sierra Winters.
